Bitter End’s diverse collection of restaurants and our sea-to-table culinary philosophy attract visitors from all over the Caribbean. We’re also home to the North Sound’s oldest pub, to the Windward Mark’s spectacular sunset views and to Chef Winston’s world-renowned pies and pastries.
A true sailor’s haunt, The Clubhouse was built by Bitter End’s first proprietor, Basil Symonette, as a spot for yachtsmen to stop by and have a strong drink and a quick meal. An eccentric sailor himself, Basil constructed it from the wreck of Huey Long’s splendid yacht, Ondine. The yacht’s mainmast still remains the centerpost of the structure.
When it opened in 1969, The Clubhouse quickly became famous as the first bar in the North Sound. Back then, if visitors did come for dinner, they were required to approach a long wooden pier and sound their boat’s air horn. If Basil felt sociable, he would respond by megaphone, and the visitor would be allowed to come ashore. The evening would last until Basil would abruptly decide it was time for lights out and shut down the generator.
Today, The Clubhouse is still beloved in the Caribbean as the place to enjoy a great meal and even better company. The open-air dining room blends tropical with nautical and attracts visitors from all over the Sound. The menu is full of ingredients from and flavors inspired by the Caribbean, including fresh-catch seafood and local produce. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the menu changes daily.

The Crawl Pub is one of the most easygoing spots in the Caribbean–and that’s saying a lot. This laid-back space slings tall pours and homemade brick-oven pizzas for hungry adventurers after a day exploring the island or out on the water. It also serves grilled fish sandwiches, hearty salads, hot dogs, hamburgers and our famous homemade hot wings.
While there, visitors can play pool, darts or foosball while enjoying sweeping views of the North Sound. Of course, the main action might be on one of our five flat-screen TVs or our monster projection screen-the Crawl Pub is known throughout the BVI for its sports tailgates and viewing parties. It’s the best place to watch the Super Bowl, World Cup, Formula 1 or Masters, bar none.

The new Windward Mark bar has quickly become a favorite for Bitter End guests, BVI locals and sailors passing through. The central circle bar has gorgeous views of Clubhouse Beach–making it the place to watch the sunset over North Sound. Plus, it’s a stone’s throw from our entertainment stage, which means you can end every evening singing, swaying and dancing in true Caribbean style. So much more than a bar, the Poolhouse provides guests with whatever they might need to enhance their day at the pool–towels, lounge seating and Caribbean-inspired lunch offerings. Of course, it is also a bar, and the crew here is known for mixing excellent afternoon cocktails or fresh fruit smoothies.
Open daily 10am – 5pm, with lunch served from 12pm – 3pm.
Meet a Bitter End mainstay, Winston Butler.
Located inside the Emporium, Winston’s Bakery is beloved by resort guests for its fresh breads, rich desserts and–perhaps most of all–for its charming chef, Winston Butler. A legend of Bitter End and the Caribbean, Winston traveled the world learning his craft and is now known to fly his signature desserts, like his Key Lime Pie, around the globe at a guest’s request. He is also known to take special orders and will help you make the most of any milestone celebration here on the island.
