Thanks to its exceptional location, conditions and amenities, Bitter End Yacht Club is ideally suited to host premier sailing races year-round. We invite you to compete or celebrate with us at one of these world-class events or just have some fun at one of our weekly Club Regattas.
We welcome guests to participate in our two signature regattas every week: the Sunday Classic Regatta and Tuesday’s Beer Can Regatta. Whether you are a new racer or former America’s Cup sailor, hop on a Hobie Cat and join in the action! Short-course racing is fast and dynamic, letting you put into practice what you’ve learned during your stay here.
Everything about the Pro Am is legendary: the participants, the event, and now–you!
At this renowned sailing event, the sport’s best need you to help them win at the Pro Am Regatta. Founded over 30 years ago, the Pro Am matches amateur sailors with America’s Cup skippers, Olympic medalists, Round the World race winners and World Champions to race the unmatched waters off Bitter End’s shores. For serious sailors, it’s akin to being called up to play doubles with Serena Williams or Roger Federer at the U.S. Open. For new sailors, it’s a chance to learn a sport from the very best–like learning to play basketball from LeBron James.
The next Pro Am Regatta will be held from October 21-28, 2017. Interested in participating? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Pro Am includes different race types and levels–dinghies, keelboats, fleet racing, team racing and match racing–so there’s something for everyone. In some races you crew for the pros, and in others you can race against them! Things kick off with two 10-mile “big boat” sprints to the world-famous Baths and back, so that sailors can get to know fellow Pro Am guests and pros. There’s also the amateur-only Scuttlebutt Sailing Club Championships, which guests are encouraged to race in. By the end of the event, you’ll have learned more in a week than you can in a racing season back home.
The Pro Am offers countless opportunities for guests to mingle with legends of the sport and hear first-hand what it’s like to win Olympic Gold or the America’s Cup. In addition to the races, there are organized round tables, where guests can participate in discussions and ask pointed questions. Better yet, there are more chances to chat with the pros over dinner or even a few drinks.
