Founded in 1969 and established as a family retreat in 1973, Bitter End Yacht Club is a world-renowned watersports playground, beloved for its embrace of adventure, its celebration of the the sea, harmony with natural surroundings and dedication to friends, family and fun. Named for our iconic location at the British Virgin Islands’ “end of the line,” Bitter End is the final island outpost before the Caribbean Sea meets the open Atlantic Ocean.
Though our village was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017, we quickly realized through the support of our global community that no storm of any category could extinguish the Bitter End spirit. Today, the place looks a little bit different but remains unmistakably Bitter End. With over a mile of waterfront to reimagine, we designed a destination that is tailor-made for our seafaring community. Now, four years later, our crew is welcoming back kindred spirits from across the globe to the place Travel + Leisure calls “the place to stay in the most beautiful place on earth.” So, pack your bags. It’s time to dine, dock, stay and play at Bitter End once again.
Hailed by the New York Times as a “rollicking nautical village,” Bitter End is known as a watersports enthusiast’s paradise thanks to its protected, deep-water harbor, steady trade winds, and proximity to vivid coral reefs. Over the last 50 years, the yacht club has become a highly sought-after destination for sailing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, scuba diving, snorkeling, and beach combing. When not in or on the water, visitors enjoy pristine beaches, browsing the resort’s shops, gourmet provisioning and saddling up to one of the the oldest bars in the BVI.
Tie up to our decked-out marina, stay in our over-the-sea Marina Lofts, or dine and drink in one of our restaurants and bars. Whether aboard your boat or shoreside, your stay is sure to be the right mix of relaxation and adventure.
Reservations are now open, so be among the first to experience Bitter End 2.0. And be sure to sign up for our newsletter to get the latest scuttlebutt. When you get here, we’ll be “messing about in boats,” just as we have been for the past 50 years.
