Watersports

“It was an incredible vacation. We spent at least half of our time in or on the water.”

Repeat Guest

Bitter End is the world’s premier location for sampling, learning and mastering all types of watersports. Our protected waters and gentle tradewinds provide ideal conditions for guests of all abilities to enjoy the gorgeous North Sound.

Windsurf

The North Sound is recognized as one of the best places in the world to windsurf, thanks to regular tradewinds nearly 300 days a year. The cooling breeze helps beginners get up and go, but still gives advanced windsurfers enough force to shred.

Just starting out? Our Club Fleet offers top-of-the-line gear for beginning to intermediates, and our Sailing School offers classes to help refine your craft.

Kiteboard

Bitter End offers the BVI’s premiere kiteboarding school. World-class instruction, plus steady tradewinds and great launching beaches, make for incredible conditions to enjoy this sport.

About Carib Kiteboarding
BEYC-based Carib Kiteboarding is run by Scott Allerton, a kiteboarding pioneer in the Caribbean and an experienced, certified and insured-PASA instructor. He welcomes teaching kiting enthusiasts ranging from beginners to experts.

Bubblemaker

For youngsters aged 8 or 9, Sunchaser Scuba offers a Bubblemaker experience! It’s an hour of fun in the pool with one of Sunchaser Scuba’s instructors. While wearing real diving equipment, kids blow bubbles under the water, play games, find treasures and learn underwater hand signals.

Snorkel

Exploring the underwater bounty of the Caribbean is as easy as putting on a snorkel mask. In the waters off Bitter End, guests can catch a glimpse of tarpon, sea turtles, parrotfish, rays, angelfish, anemones, flamingo tongues and sometimes even an octopus in their natural habitat. At other sites, you could discover cannons, anchors and other relics from pirate and colonial days past.

Over 15 snorkeling excursions are included for guests enjoying a seven-night stay.

Fish

Bitter End offers world-class fishing and flats just off its shores. Bonefish, tarpon, kingfish, dolphin, wahoo and tuna are all available for catch in the surrounding waters.

Guests wishing to fish by boats while at Bitter End are required to obtain a temporary fishing license, unless fishing with a local guide/charter fishing vessel (or fishing from shore). We are happy to supply you with the necessary form and instructions to expedite the process.

Scuba

The waters around Bitter End are some of the most pristine and protected in the world, which makes them ideal for diving enthusiasts of all levels. We’ve teamed up with the expert divers of Sunchaser Scuba for over 25 years to offer one-of-a-kind outings and hassle-free guidance through the many arches, coral canyons and historic wrecks that line the British Virgin Islands.

Certified Divers — Sunchaser Scuba offers regularly scheduled dive trips for certified divers: two-tank dives in the early morning and one-tank dives in the afternoon. Also, be sure to ask about our seasonal Dive Adventure Stays, which offer specialized schedules for multiple days of diving.

Non-certified Divers — We offer an on-site PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience course, where you can complete one hour of training followed by a dive to a maximum depth of 40 feet, popularly known as the “resort course.” Then, complete the PADI Open Water Course, which will allow you to dive anywhere in the world and be certified for life!
